(More customer reviews)I was really looking forward to this cart, as it was really needed and its hard to find a large cart like this at such a low price.
The cart itself is pretty nice, and I probably would give it four stars if not for the packaging problems (see below). It is particle board furniture, so I didn't expect much. There are some issues with its construction that are a little annoying. The dowels used to build it are probably too big, and when you press them in to get a good seal on the joints (which sometimes you don't even get leading to visible gaps in the top portion) they press through the other end of the particle board! This happened three times, luckily on the very top of the unit so you can't see it. Besides that though it looks good, and seems sturdy enough. The power cord included is nice, but it has ungrounded connections. Most moden microwaves have three prongs and wouldn't even work!
The major issues I have are with the delivery of the package and with the ACME company itself. The package was it really bad shape when it arrived, with a visible hole in the box. Luckily I don't think anything was lost as it was in a corner with only larger pieces. There was some visible damage on two or three of the pieces which sadly I couldn't hide. In the end however, this wasn't enough of an issue for me to send it back to amazon and wait for another box. The biggest problem was that there were no assembly directions in the box! I decided to call ACME, because I figured that they would be more likely to have the instructions than amazon. I got transfered around a little bit and the last guy I talked to said that he had the instructions but refused to email or fax them to me. His excuse was that because I did not buy from them directly, he has no idea if I actually own the unit. I really don't understand what that has to do with getting instructions. When I attempted to explain this to him he hung up on me. I called amazon, and they were more helpful. They said that they didn't have extras lying around, and the only way to get the instruction was a return/exchange (which again, the box is 60-70lbs, and I didn't want to worry about it). I told him about the ACME company rep, and the amazon customer service agent said he would call the directly and request the information. After calling ACME he said that they would give me the information via email shortly. That was over 5 hours ago, and still no email from ACME.
I finally gave up and decided to try and build the thing myself using the picture on the website. Luckily, the assembly was pretty straight-forward, and I was able to build it without instructions.
So the unit itself is fine, amazon customer service was surprisingly quick and helpful, and the ACME company has absolutely horrible customer service. I will never buy from them again, even through Amazon.
