Wagan EL2205 Elite 2000 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter Review

Wagan EL2205 Elite 2000 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter

I am no expert in inverters or electrical systems therefore rely on electrical products meeting national or international standards. I inspected the inverter and noticed one of the input terminals had one or two arc burns. The front of the panel had a scratch that was painted over with what looked like a felt pen. I could not find a lable with a serial number or indication of meeting national or international standads such as CSA, ISO, EN, CE, UL etc.
I was concerned and borrowed a scope to analyze the sine wave. The sine wave looked good with only minor distortion at one small point.
I found the unit created some noise in a radio plugged into the inverter and in a portable radio within a few feet of the unit. The portable radio noise fell off quickley with distance. The in line interference I felt could be filtered out for sensitive equipment. I was prepared to risk keeping the unit as it seemed to perform reasonably. I did however want a unit that was unmarked so I returned the unit to amazon. I do not at this time have a replacement unit.

KitchenAid Warming Drawers KEWS105SPA Review

KitchenAid Warming Drawers KEWS105SPA
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased two. Be prepared to receive little for your money. The KitchenAid warming drawer is basically just a metal box with a heating element at the bottom and a crude, sheet-metal drawer above. They feel a little flimsy. The drawer flexes when you pull it open. This is not what I expected for about $1000 each.
Judging by the two I received, evidently KitchenAid's quality control is less than perfect. On one of my warming drawers, the drawer wasn't level with its chassis. One side of the drawer was 1/4 inch lower than the other (making it look as if it was installed at an angle). For a product at this price level, one would think they would catch problems like this before the product leaves the factory.
I called KitchenAid after correcting the tilted drawer myself. What an annoying experience. First you "talk" with their automated system. When asked what product I was calling about, I repeatedly said, "warming drawer," until I realized that they hadn't bothered to program "warming drawer" into the system. What fun! Talking to a representative wasn't much better. It would have been nice if they offered something for my trouble --- even just a few dollars off a future purchase would have been a nice gesture. But no. All I got was attitude and excuses.

Copco 2510-4501 Personal Tea Carafe Review

Copco 2510-4501 Personal Tea Carafe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Great for mornings when you want more than 1 cup of tea, but not a whole pot. It's the perfect size! The silicone sleeve means you won't have to burn your fingers by trying to awkwardly grasp only the neck of the bottle like those little carafes they give you in diners and restaurants. My only complaint (thus 4 stars vs. 5) is that the infuser holes are slightly larger than I would like, and for some teas like Kwaazulu or a fine Assam, some of the leaves will seep out. But, an Adagio tea filter fits perfectly inside, so problem solved!

Zephyr AK1200B Review

Zephyr AK1200B
Average Reviews:

Background you can skip
We have, or I should say HAD, a microwave hood right over our cooktop. The builders of the home had taken some shortcuts and installed the hood WAY too close to the cooktop (dangerous) and they also had not installed any ducting.
Natural result of such and environment is that the microhood died on a O/D of grease in the interior.
So we set oput to find a decent range hood alternative that would hang at the right height over the cooktop and pretty quickly found that there was NO WAY that a microhood existed that would fit. Also, we found, we could not find replacement cabinets in the same style as the kicthen to create more room over the cooktop to retrofit a new microhood.
Conclusion: buy another microwave that is not a hood AND find a range hood that would not exceed 7" in height so that it would not be too close to the cooktop.
Secondly, find one with enough CFM to work well for our wokking and excessive cooking.
Thridly, try and find all this WITH a recirculation option so that we would not have to try and put expensive ductwork into the home.
Forth: have it fit our stainless look kicthen decor
And lastly, get all this for under 400$.
About the ZEPHYR AK1200
We shopped and shopped and always found something amiss: either not enough CFM, no recirculation option, too expensive or a combination thereoff. 2 brands did jump out at us for reasonable prices, good CFM and nice designs with low profiles: SUMMIT and ZEPHYR.
Under 400$ it is almost impossible to find all this, mind you.
The ZEPHYR AK1200 won for us because of a couple of reasons, that we consider pros.
PROS:
) Price, price, price
0 Non-obtrusive design that cann fit into any decor.
0 All stainless outside, no plstic black panels etc as the Broans in this price range sport. the controls are in a plastic panel but under the hood.
0 Lighting with dimmers (2 step, not halogen), 2 lights, well aimed at cooktop and easily cleanable with glass covers
0 400 CFM!! For this price. Awesome
0 Large single blower/fan cage.
0 Cheap recirculation option: under 20$!! Very cheap.
0 Low sones at low speeds, does get noisy when blowing full speed but that is the price of most CFM
0 Again, can be installed ducted (3.25" by 10") or ductless
0 Easy clean dishwashed aluminum filters
0 Really low profile at 5.25". perfect for those that need under cabinet without excessive space available for larger hoods.
0 Timer feature on blower
CONS:
0 Not as silent as hoped, but as silent as it gets in this pricerange.
0 Control panel un underside of hood, easy for wifey but I have to still feel around a bit.
0 Some mighht find the design not very inspiring.
0 Fan cage is plastic
0 Little on the loud side in all 3 settings
CONCLUSION:
The ZEPHYR's offer excellent designs at perfect prices. Not excessively expensive but with features that compare to >500$ hoods. If this is too bland, look at the ZEPHYR or SUMMIT more expensive lines. They get very modern but unfortunately too high profile for us. Even the Boran's we looked at did not compare, being a low end manufacturer. This stuff is Excellent price/quality.

This is just a review of the stove itself, I didn't buy it here.
If you're looking for an induction stove, this is the probably the best looking and sleekest stove you can buy (in slide-in range configuration). I love the all black sleek look. The control panel only lights up when you first touch the panel to "wake" it up. The stove top and control panel is all black except for the clock which looks really sleek. It has a power boil feature which boils a quart of water in 90 seconds (I tested it). All of the other thoughtful touches like ball bearing smooth gliding oven racks, built in temperature probe (for cooking turkeys), and soft fading oven light (after you shut the door - I know big woop, but it looks cool), makes you wonder why no one else thought of these things. Most other stove oven's have the racks still grinding against the oven wall. The oven racks on the Electrolux (except for one rack) have the "luxury" glide racks which glide like nice cabinet drawers. Overall, I love this stove. I never thought I would be excited about a stove.
The only troubles I ran into with the stove was during installation.
There didn't seem like an easy way to get the stove off the wood crate. My kitchen is relatively small and there aren't very many places to grab the stove to lift it off the wood crate.
Most stores only sell 6' 50 amp range cords. If you buy this stove, I would recommend looking for a 4' 50 amp range cord because 6' (plus the size of the wires for 50 amps) is very stiff. I had some trouble getting the stove pushed up against the wall all the way no matter how much I tried to tie up with zip ties excess wire before pushing it back. Four feet 50 amp cords are a little harder to find so you may have to look around.
The back panel where the cord plugs in is flimsy. I'm guessing they don't expect you to open and close the back panel very often. The back panel door which covers the nuts to connect the cord is simply a piece of sheet metal you bend (yes BEND) backwards to expose the nuts. If you bend it back shut and then back open again, it's noticeably looser. One more bend back and forth and it breaks off. So why was I opening and closing it so many times, you ask? See the previous paragraph. I originally bought a 6' cord and had trouble getting the stove up against the wall. So I had to swap out the cord for a shorter one.If you're on the fence about induction technology, read below:
Originally I had an old GE electric coil range and I wanted switch over to gas because of all the advantages (instant heat, and instant on/off (plus my wife hated electric). I came across induction stove tops which I thought was intriguing.
Induction cooking:
Pros:
- Boils water (or heats anything) faster than any gas or reg electric stove.
- Smooth glass surface is easy to clean, especially since it doesn't get hot (only heat radiating back from cookware to stove).
- Probably safer with young kids since the surface doesn't get hot (less chance of fires and burns).
- Stove only heats cookware when cookware is placed on the stove.
- Induction is 70% more efficient than gas, and 20% more than reg electric (so they claim). I'm guessing that's because all the heat goes straight to the cookware and the only wasted heat is the heat radiating off the cookware not going to your food. Think of it as microwave for your cookware. Microwaves heat the food and not the cookware. Induction stoves, heats only the cookware. There's no heat wasted coming off the side of an open flame or electric coil.
Cons:
- Need magnetic pans. So if you have aluminum or copper bottom pot/pan, it won't work. Test your cookware by using a magnet on the bottom. If the magnet sticks, it will work.
- Glass surface might scratch if you drag cookware across it or drop something on it.
Do searches for induction stove on youtube.com for demo of induction stoves.
